Product Description #1 New York Times bestsellingauthor David Baldacci follows the instant success of Divine Justice with another unstoppable thriller.
Sean King and Michelle Maxwell, back from their harrowing and near-fatal adventure in the blockbuster #1 bestseller Simple Genius, return in a mesmerizing new thriller. A daring kidnapping turns a children's birthday party at Camp David into a national security nightmare, but the hostage is not who anyone would expect. The First Lady enlists the services of King and Maxwell to bring the child back safely. Years ago, King saved her then-senator husband from an assassin's bullet; whether they shared anything else is their secret. With Michelle still recovering from her own demons the pair are pushed to the limit, with forces aligned on all sides against them, and the line between friend and foe impossible to define...or defend.

Captivating and satisfying August 7, 2009 allie Brummond 36 out of 39 found this review helpful
First Family is David Baldacci's follow-up to Simple Genius. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell are summoned by Pam Dutton to instruct them on their next case. Before they can meet with her, however, they notice two men running from the scene firing their guns. As they investigate the house they notice Pam is dead, but, Willa, her eldest daughter, is missing. Subplots are plenty as Michelle, who is still struggling to come to terms about her mother's death, returns home to be with her father. First Family is a beefy book with twists and turns reminiscent of a roller coaster. Its politics and scandals are so complex that the reader stays in tune with the book from page one, and doesn't blink until the book ends. David Baldacci has once again delivered a novel that will captivate its readers....
I would also highly recommend: S is for Sirens a novel that ranked one of the best this year.
A Fantastic Read! May 1, 2009 M. Smiley (Houston, TX USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I absolutely loved reading David Baldacci's "First Family" starring the former Secret Service Agents Sean King and Michelle Maxwell! Sean and Michelle are drawn into investigating the kidnapping of the First Lady's niece - much to the chagrin of the FBI and the Secret Service. Nothing is as it sees in this well-thought out plot involving the First Lady Jane Cox - how can the kidnapper possibly ever have had any connection with the First Family? This thriller won't let you get any work done until you've finished the last page to see what happens!
Audio May 23, 2009 Readers Favorite (Hawesville, KY USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
First Family is an excellent read. It took me several pages to get really involved, but by the 2nd chapter, I was hooked. David Baldacci comes through again with another gripping thriller. Fans will be glad to see Sean and Michelle. There are many threads to this story. Baldacci successfully weaves them together to produce a best seller.
The President's niece was kidnapped. Bypassing the FBI, the First Lady requests Sean King and Michelle Maxwell to find her niece.
When Michelle's mother died, she suspected her father of murdering her.
Many years ago a man's daughter died, and he wants revenge.
I'm reviewing the unabridged audio book. At first, the narrator's voice didn't fit. However, the longer I listened the better it sounded. This is an excellent read. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend The First Family.
Great book April 21, 2009 grumpydan (Andover, NJ United States) 46 out of 67 found this review helpful
David Baldacci creates an impossible situation with believable characters. When the president's niece is abducted after attending a birthday party at Camp David, the question is why? Why are private investigators Sean King and Michelle Maxwell hired to locate the missing child? And what does the abductor want? Why has he kidnapped another woman along with the child? So many questions, which all get answered as the story unfolds. This book had me on the edge of my recliner as I read each chapter wondering where is was headed and why. Great book.
Good author May 11, 2009 book lover (Florida) 12 out of 17 found this review helpful
I have always enjoyed Baldacci's books and this one didn't disappoint. It was a little slow going getting into it, but it did pick up and hold my interest. Fans of Baldacci won't be disappointed.
On another note...I think it's crazy that so many people have given this book 1 star based solely on price and I really think Amazon should remove all non-reviews of the actual book material. If the rating is based solely on the price of the book it should be yanked to be fair to the author. Because, honestly, at first I wasn't going to get it based on the average star rating shown on Amazon. It was only after I read the reviews, and realized 90% of the one star reviews were from people crying over the book price, that I reconsidered. It is really unfair to the author.
